Supply Chain Resources

The Supply Chain Resources Division provides comprehensive contracting services, including implementation of the unique GNYHA Services/Premier GPP Regional Contracting Program, which offers enhancements to Premier contracts, contracts for products and services not included in the Premier portfolio, and assistance in local negotiations of contracts by individual members. It also provides value analysis support; clinical supply chain benchmarking; ongoing educational materials and programs; and targeted support for areas that frequently require specialized expertise including diagnostic imaging, laboratory, surgical services, food and nutrition, and facility maintenance and construction.
The Supply Chain Resources division meets with our members’ contracting committees and suppliers to address all contracting needs, including particular contracting challenges such as physician preference products. The Clinical Services department, led by Timothy Glennon and part of the Supply Chain Resources division, offers comprehensive value analysis assistance, clinical supply chain benchmarking, and ongoing educational resources and support. Additionally, the Supply Chain Resources division offers subject matter experts (SME) who provide valuable insight on imaging, facility maintenance and construction, laboratory, and surgical services.

Regional Enhancements/Super Tiers

Regional enhancements to Premier contracts include using volume aggregation to place GNYHA Services members on the best possible contract volume tiers, creating “super tiers” in which volume pricing tiers above and beyond Premier’s best contract tier are negotiated, growth incentive programs, and value not included in the original Premier agreement, such as extended equipment warranties at no charge, free shipping, etc.

Member Regional Committees and Task Forces

GNYHA Services member regional committees and task forces play a critical role in shaping the direction of regional contracting efforts and contracting decisions. The GNYHA Services Regional Advisory Council (RAC) consists of supply chain executives from a broad cross section of GNYHA Services membership. The RAC has three task forces of industry experts in the areas of food, laboratory, Facilities and Construction and capital equipment. Each RAC–nominated task force brings unique skills and experience to help develop cost-reduction guidelines in utilizing all contracts.
The powerful blend of Premier’s national pricing and additional Regional Contracting value provides the best of both purchasing worlds and has provided great savings for members since the Regional Contracting program began in 2004.

Diagnostic Services

Diagnostic Services helps our members’ laboratories obtain the highest standards of quality, productivity, services, safety, and cost. Our clinical expertise helps our members achieve “best practice” status in supply chain management for diagnostically acceptable and preferential products and process efficiency.

By combining clinical expertise with value analysis, pricing evaluation, normalization, and product standardization, we help our members get the best total cost for acquired products while maintaining the highest standard of care and producing the most efficient outcomes.

We work with members on an individual basis to review existing liabilities, rearrange workflow and efficiencies, reduce expenditures, and provide support in strategic negotiations. GNYHA Services has a seat on the Premier Lab Committee, which makes national contracting decisions. This unique position allows us to identify our market profile and protect our region’s interests before Premier contracts for products and supplies. While Premier provides an excellent price differential on a national basis, we develop regional agreements, as appropriate, that give our membership superior coverage and choices. Finally, our lab-specific educational seminars provide members with access to continuing education–accredited programs at no cost.

Food and Nutrition Services

Food and Nutrition Services has established a dynamic infrastructure to facilitate member feedback and make informed contracting decisions. We continually seek opportunities to support members in obtaining the best prices and widest array of choices in this contracting area. Among its offerings, the food service team works directly with members on regional contracting, Premier Committed Manufacturer Agreement contract enhancements, a biannual food service consortium, and the Regional Foodservice Task Force (RFTF). RFTF meets quarterly and acts as a forum for food service directors to provide GNYHA Services with feedback on national and regional contract development, and to address critical issues in food contracting. RFTF represents the GNYHA Services Food and Nutrition Program at regional and national Premier meetings and plays an invaluable role in shaping the range of contracts that we offer to our membership. Currently, members who purchase through GNYHA Services and Premier’s food program utilize a distribution program with U.S. Foodservice, Inc. and enjoy an average savings of 12–15%.
