The GNYHA Services Clinical Services team executes opportunity analysis for member facilities, identifying cost savings and market share growth opportunities, with particular focus on physician preference products. They develop tools, contracting opportunities, and education options to help members manage the clinical aspects that affect their purchasing decisions. Here are a few examples of the support they provide:
- Clinical Services Seminars provide non-commercial clinical education to members. The goal of the seminar series is to facilitate meaningful dialogue and promote networking among supply chain executives, clinicians, and suppliers by offering substantive programs on timely clinical topics, with particular focus on such issues as “never events,” national patient safety goals, and hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). These seminars are provided free of charge to all GNYHA Services members regardless of their participation in the GNYHA Services/Premier Group Purchasing Program. Members have the opportunity to earn contact hours from these seminars that can be used toward CMRP re-certification.
- Clinical Services Field Guides foster understanding of the clinical, financial, and contractual issues relating to complex clinical preference products. These guides have been created for numerous clinical supply chain topics and products. These publications provide timely and relevant information on clinical product categories and include product overview, clinical information, contract summary information, sign-on documents, and suggested contract implementation plans.
- Clinical Services Snapshot is a recently developed member benefit. Do you have an up-coming meeting with a physician or other clinician about a certain medical technology or product? Would you like some basic information to help you and other non-clinicians have a more informed conversation on the topic? The Clinical Services Snapshot can help. Contact your Client Service Executive or the Clinical Services team and a Snapshot will be made to order.
- Clinical Focus is a set of no-cost supply chain benchmarking tools that provide an accurate snapshot of a facility's current pricing and opportunities for cost savings on physician preference items. Participants receive a benchmarking report with data presented in an easy-to-understand graphic format, comparing a facility's cost to the minimum, average and maximum costs in the database. There are three tools: CardiacFocus, OrthoFocus, and SpineFocus. Contact the Clinical Services team for more information.
- Supplier Continuing Education Programs: We understand the value continuing education provides for healthcare professionals. Many GNYHA Services contracted suppliers offer continuing education programs in the form of seminars or webinar series. GNYHA Services keeps an up-to-date catalog of these offerings for you.
Value Analysis Support
The GNYHA Services Clinical Services team provides education, on-site support, and value analysis tools to assist members in realizing the optimum results from their value analysis activities. These member benefits include:
- On-Site Value Analysis Support: The Clinical Services team offers on-going on-site value analysis support to our members, where we actively participate with an institution’s existing value analysis team as a guest or visiting member, as directed. The Clinical Services team continues to help members realize significant additional benefits from their value analysis activities through the on-going assistance we provide in the value analysis arena. Case in point, the Clinical Services team helped a major teaching institution in the Northeast convene a Peri-Operative Services Value Analysis team, resulting in sustained six figure savings.
- Evidence-Based Value Analysis: Through the use of comparative outcomes data, common methodologies, reimbursement modeling, and collaborative knowledge sharing tools, GNYHA Services helps members manage breakthrough technology, reduce unnecessary variation, and support product selection aimed at achieving improved clinical outcomes. These initiatives are supported by Premier’s ValueAdvisor™, a Web-based application available by subscription that offers hospitals an automated solution to manage their value analysis processes and realize clinical and financial return on investment. ValueAdvisor gives members one application to track and manage all their value analysis activities, from initial request to final outcome. The tool is Web-based, thereby permitting access from any location. The strength of ValueAdvisor lies in its ability to interface with other Premier tools (such as Spend Advisor) and enables sharing of value analysis activities and best practices throughout the national Premier community.
