Lee H. Perlman is a lifelong New Yorker who has dedicated his career to serving others. Since 1983, Mr. Perlman has been the driving force behind GNYHA Ventures, Inc., the for-profit business arm of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA). As President, Mr. Perlman has been responsible for the development of all companies created under GNYHA Ventures, many of which have been sold to larger organizations. The current GNYHA Ventures portfolio includes subsidiaries that engage in $6 billion in commerce annually through group purchasing, management outsourcing, and healthcare consulting. GNYHA is a longtime business partner and the largest shareholder in Premier, Inc. (PINC). Mr. Perlman also serves as GNYHA’s Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer.

One of the industry’s most passionate leaders about the marriage of business and science in healthcare management and procurement, Mr. Perlman is former Chairman of the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA) Board, and is current Chairman of the HSCA Public Policy Committee. Mr. Perlman is former Chair and now Board member of the Steering Committee of the Healthcare Group Purchasing Industry Initiative (HGPII). He has served Premier as both a Board Director and member of the Audit Committee and currently serves as an advisor to management. Mr. Perlman has used these national platforms to advocate for price transparency, comparative effectiveness in the supply chain, and adoption of mobile health technology as a way to lower healthcare providers’ cost of doing business while maintaining greater resources for direct patient care.

A leader in promoting diversity in healthcare leadership, Mr. Perlman founded the GNYHA Summer Enrichment Program, which has placed more than 300 diverse students in summer internships. He previously served on the Boards of National Medical Fellowships and the Institute for Diversity in Health Care Management, and currently serves as Treasurer for charitySTRONG, which helps nonprofits build strong, diverse boards of directors.

A dedicated volunteer and philanthropist, Mr. Perlman devotes significant energy to non-profits related to healthcare, education, and the arts. He is Chairman of the LiveOnNY Foundation, which promotes organ donation, and also serves on the Board of the Ronald McDonald House of New York. Most recently Mr. Perlman was appointed by Governor Cuomo to the Boards of the New York Convention Center Operating Corporation and the Convention Center Development Corporation (Javits Center).

Mr. Perlman is an officer and Board member of the Berkshire Theatre Group in Pittsfield (Massachusetts), Rosie’s Theater Kids, The Actor’s Fund, and the Samuel Field Y. Mr. Perlman also sits on the Board of the UJA Federation of New York and serves as Co-Chair of the Hunter College Hillel.

Mr. Perlman received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Binghamton University and his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Sloan Program at Cornell University.

Mr. Christopher J. O'Connor, CMRP, FACHE has worked in the consulting and healthcare industry for over two decades. He has held a variety of leadership positions over the course of his career and has built a reputation as an innovative and growth-oriented thought leader. Mr. O'Connor has worked within the provider side of healthcare and at some of the top consulting firms across the globe.

Currently, Mr. O'Connor serves as Executive Vice President of GNYHA Ventures, Inc., the parent company for a number of for-profit businesses, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA). GNYHA is a unique trade association comprising over 300 hospitals and continuing care facilities, both voluntary and public, in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico.

Mr. O'Connor also serves as President of GNYHA Services, Inc., an acute care group purchasing organization. In his role as President, he is responsible for the management and growth of the GNYHA Services/Premier portfolio, as well as the Business Solutions Group, Business Strategy, Pharmacy Services, and Strategic Contracting Services divisions. Mr. O'Connor, along with his team, has been a critical component in client base expansion, strengthening, and growth. Under his tenure, the company's profitability has grown exponentially. Most importantly, through GNYHA Services, the cost curve has been positively impacted.

Mr. O'Connor is also President of Nexera, Inc., a healthcare consulting firm he created when he first joined GNYHA in 2003. Nexera's initial focus was to assist hospitals and long term care facilities to identify and implement strategies to reduce supply chain cost through operational and strategic improvement. Today, the firm's services have grown to include: Financial Improvement, Performance Improvement, Technology Optimization, Project Management, Strategic Advisory Services, Management & Workforce Solutions, Sterile Processing, Value Analysis, and, through the supply chain, leading providers to the intersection of cost, quality, and outcomes.

In addition to his years at GNYHA, Mr. O'Connor has worked at KPMG and Deloitte. There he spent several years working internationally in Brazil, Holland, and South Africa on supply chain projects in financial services, manufacturing, and transportation. Once back in the U.S., Mr. O'Connor spent a year working with the United Nations and the then-budding Department of Homeland Security. He also successfully worked in the areas of cost reduction, M&A, reorganizations, strategy, system implementations (ERP), technology optimization, and health reform.

Mr. O'Connor is currently a Fellow and Past Chair of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is former Chair of the Premier Purchasing Partners National Technology Steering Committee (2003-2010), as well as a former Board Member of the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA). He is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) and a member of the New York City YMCA Board of Directors.

Mr. O'Connor is an active speaker and author on a variety of healthcare, leadership, and supply chain topics. He has served as an adjunct instructor at Cornell University, Iona College, and SUNY Binghamton teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Healthcare and Supply Chain Management. In addition, he has guest lectured on the topics of Leadership, Career Management, and Executive Perspectives within the Healthcare Programs.

Mr. O'Connor received his Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Iona College. He also has a Master's of Business Administration in Production Operation Management and a Post Master's Certificate in Management from Iona College's Hagan School of Business.

Alison Flynn provides executive oversight for key client relationships and assists in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. She has worked in the management consulting and healthcare industries in various leadership capacities for nearly two and a half decades. Her corporate, provider, and international consulting experience coupled with her work in education is backed by a commitment to improve the operations, productivity, quality, revenue growth, and cost-effectiveness of Nexera and the other institutions she works with.

Ms. Flynn also serves as Senior Vice President of GNYHA Services, an acute care group purchasing organization that, like Nexera, is part of the GNYHA Ventures family of companies. Ms. Flynn most recently oversaw internal operations for both Nexera and GNYHA Services.

Previously, Ms. Flynn worked at former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s organization, Giuliani Partners, where she led the healthcare and pharmaceutical practice internationally in addition to engagements within the energy, finance, and fraud detection arenas. She has held administrative, operations, and supply chain positions at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Continuum Health Partners, and Danbury Hospital.

Ms. Flynn is board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Past President of the Healthcare Leaders of New York, an American College of Healthcare Executives local chapter.

Ms. Flynn is a member of the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management, and is a Certified Materials & Resource Professional.  She currently sits on the Career and Technical Education Advisory Board for the Urban Assembly School for Collaborative Healthcare and is a member of the Utah Healthcare Executives Mentorship Committee. She is a past member of the American Red Cross of the Greater New York –Harriman Advisory Board as well as a former volunteer for New York Needs You.

In 2015, she received the Zachary Foundation’s Healthcare Classic Award and was given the Highest Leaf Award from the Women’s Venture Fund in 2013.

Ms. Flynn holds a BS in Health Care Administration and a MS in Health Services Administration from Iona College, where she has since served as an adjunct professor, guest lecturer, as a member of the Alumni Board, and the Health Care Management Professional Advisory Board.

Barbara Green

Dr. Barbara A. Green, Ph.D., joined the Greater New York Hospital Association more than 20 years ago. During that time she has served in numerous policy and business-related positions, including Director of Public Affairs and Education, Executive Director of the Greater New York Hospital Foundation, Inc., and Senior Vice President of GNYHA. In her current position with GNYHA Services, Dr. Green is responsible for new business development in areas that assist member institutions in improving operational efficiency, patient quality and access, workforce recruitment and retention, and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining GNYHA, she served as Special Assistant to the Executive Director, Bellevue Hospital; Professional Staff Member of the U.S. Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee (staffer of former U.S. Senator Jacob K. Javits); and Director of Educational Programs, American Group Practice Association.

Jeffrey Ashkenase

Jeffrey Ashkenase oversees the Business Solutions, Strategic Contracting, Project Management, and Analytics divisions of GNYHA Services. Mr. Ashkenase has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 20 years in the non-profit, managed care, group purchasing, and government settings. Throughout his career he has been responsible for managing costs, system implementations, optimizing the supply chain, and improving decision support and the budgeting process through the use of technology.

Mr. Ashkenase also oversees the value analysis, sterile processing, and workforce and management solutions services at Nexera, a leading healthcare consulting firm that delivers solutions tailored to improve hospital and health-system performance. Before joining the GNYHA family, he was Associate Vice President of Finance at Maimonides Medical Center, where his responsibilities included overseeing the budget, decision support department and materials management, and business information systems. Mr. Ashkenase earned his BA from SUNY Albany and his MPA from NYU Wagner.

Brian Conway, Senior Vice President, Communications, joined the GNYHA family of companies in 1999. Mr. Conway is GNYHA Services' media spokesperson and liaison for reporters seeking information about our organization and hospital and health care issues, and works closely with the principal public relations executives at member hospitals. He also supervises the GNYHA Ventures Corporate Communications Department, which is responsible for all business communications and events. Before joining GNYHA, Mr. Conway worked for the American Geriatrics Society. He earned a B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Oneonta and an M.A. in Public Communications from Fordham University.
